The large file editor can test an XML file is valid and presents the results in a tool window.

If the XML file contains a xs:schemaLocation or xs:noNamespaceSchemaLocation attribute then the validation will use the schema referenced, if not schema location attributes are present then the validator just performs 'Well formed'  validation.

Validating very large documents can take a while!
